Real Madrid players have taken centre stage in
the Euro 2012. The team has ten players still in the championship, more
than any other side. They've scored seven goals so far and Cristiano
Ronaldo is the tournament's top scorer, while Casillas is the least
scored upon goalkeeper. Ozil has served three assists and is one of the
best assist-men in the competition.
Karim Benzema is the only Madridista to have been eliminated
thus far; it happened in France's 2-0 defeat against the Spain of
Casillas, Arbeloa, Albiol, Ramos and Alonso. So far, Ronaldo has scored three goals, Alonso two, Pepe one and Khedira another, making real Madrid the stop scoring club in the tournament alongside Wolfsburg. Cristiano is the top scorer with Germany's Mario Gomez and the already eliminated Dzagoev (Russia) and Mandzukic (Croatia). Iker Casillas is the least scored upon goalkeeper with only one conceded strike; he is followed by Italy's Buffon (2) and England's Hart (3), who is already out of the championship. Ozil tops the assists ranking with Silva and the eliminated Arshavin (Russia) and Gerrard (England) with three goal passes each.
Real Madrid players have won Man of the Match honours six times already. Ozil and Ronaldo earned the distinction twice, the former in Germany's clashes with Portugal and Greece, and the latter in Portugal's games against the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. Xavi Alonso was Man of the Match against France and Pepe against Denmark. This makes Real Madrid the team with the largest number of players in the tournament to receive this distinction.
